On Saturday night, an explosion on the bridge connecting Crimea with southern Russia temporarily closed it for freight traffic.
The Russian Committee for Investigation (IC) stated that it launched a probe into an incident and warned the media against drawing too rushed conclusions.
According to the Committee, a truck blew up on the automobile of part of the Crimean bridge.
The explosion ignited seven fuel tanks of a railway train heading towards the Crimean Peninsula. As a result, two car spans of the brigde partially collapsed, the Committee’s statement for media said.
The Committee also informed media that according to preliminary data, three people died as a result of the incident. These are, presumably, the passengers of a car that was next to the blown up truck, the author of the statement said.
The IC emphasised that any conclusions regarding the circumstances of the incident would be premature.
The criminal investigation is ongoing, stated official representative of the IC of Russia Ms. S.L. Petrenko
